Noah Yui with other campers at the Wheaton College Generate Summer Camp

“I enjoyed attending the week-long Generate Summer Camp at Wheaton College this past July,” said Noah Yui, Plainfield North High School senior.

Yui attended the service-oriented camp that allows youth to serve the local community during their stay thanks to the Plainfield School District 202 Foundation for Excellence Horizon Grant.

Yui’s youth group served at Wayside Cross Ministries, a homeless and addiction recovery center in Aurora.

“Areas of service for our group included detailing and cleaning cars, calling people who donated to the ministry to thank them for their support, making cards and posters for new arrivals at Wayside, ministering to people on the street, and speaking with residents of Wayside in small groups,” Yui said.

“Thank you, Plainfield School District 202 Foundation for Excellence, for supporting this summer enrichment experience,” he added.

The Foundation awarded 2024 Horizon Grants to six students to help pay for summer learning enrichment experiences that broaden their academic horizons and explore areas of interest.
