High School Mentoring Program
The Foundation for Excellence provides funding to each high school to help fund freshman transition programs that are designed to welcome first year students and to help them feel comfortable in the high school environment.
At Plainfield North, South and Central Campus, Link Crew programs are in place. Plainfield East has a similar outreach effort called Bengal Athletic Leadership Club.
At each campus, upperclassmen are trained to be mentors and positive role models. The upperclassmen interact with incoming students so the freshmen understand what it takes to be successful in high school.
Studies have shown that such mentoring programs are effective in improving freshmen attendance, grades and an overall connection to school.
