District 202 high school juniors once again have the chance to broaden their academic horizons with the help of a special grant to help pay for a summer extended learning experience.
The Plainfield Foundation for Excellence will award multiple Horizon Grants totaling up to $5,000 to current high school juniors from District 202’s four high schools and Plainfield Academy, the district’s alternative high school. (Actual grant amounts will depend on applications and available revenue, but the total of all grants awarded will not exceed $5,000).
Grants are to be used for expenses related to a summer enrichment experience. This includes but is not limited to expenses such as: registration, travel, food/lodging, learning materials and supplies.
Grants can be used for programs between June 1-August 10, 2024.
Horizon Grant applications are due April 4, 2024. Winners will be announced by May 3.
Applications are available at psd202.org under Foundation for Excellence or by visiting https://forms.gle/7qy4cMAVbyUDem5e6.
The Foundation introduced the Horizon Grants in 2012 as part of its mission to support academic innovation for District 202 students. Since 1983, the Foundation for Excellence has raised and contributed $1.1 million to support District 202 students and staff by funding grants, scholarships, and projects; and by supporting special programs such as the Great Read, a District Art Gallery, and the 1847 Schoolhouse Restoration.
