Plainfield Academy is a school located near historic Downtown Plainfield and is comprised of a wide array of programs which serve a diverse student body. The Academy Programs utilize the same district curriculum that all other Plainfield Schools teach, with special education accommodations.
In 2002, the Plainfield Academy Alternative high school program opened providing a smaller learning environment and more staff attention than the larger high school environments.
In 2004, the Turnabout, In Lieu of Expulsion, program opened; their school day begins in the afternoon, and provides a smaller, regular education environment for students who were brought to the school board for expulsion.
In 2005, the Middle School wing of Plainfield Academy was opened to provide for special education students and middle school students in lieu of expulsion.
In 2009, the P-STEP (Post - Secondary Transition and Educational Program) was brought to Plainfield Academy to serve the needs of post-high school students whose work and social skills need further refinement before entering the work force.
In 2010, the Therapeutic Academic Program (TAP) was established, giving students in need of a more therapeutic environment the opportunity to learn in a setting that provides the appropriate level of support.
The Plainfield Academy Programs flourish due to strong leadership and a dedicated staff, who consistently go the extra mile to encourage and inspire every student.
